How to select the right weight plates and barbells for your home gym

Hello fitness friends! It can be overwhelming to navigate the vast world of weights and bars, as well as accessories, especially for those just beginning their weightlifting or strength training journey. This post will walk you through the different types of weight plates and barbells so that you are able to make an informed decision when purchasing a home gym equipment.

Selecting the right bell

A barbell forms the basis of your weightlifting or strength-training equipment. Barbells may seem indestructible weight training equipment. However, barbells can vary greatly in quality. Barbells can become warped, rusted and even broken, especially if they are subject to poor manufacturing, missed lifts and other misuse. These mishaps can be avoided by choosing the right barbell.

A men’s vs. women’s bar is the first thing you should consider. This distinction is based on Olympic specifications. You should also consider the material used to make the bar, its weight, its ‘whip (bounce), the sleeves (how many spins the bar will have) and the load capability.
